The former Brazilian leader has been detained after authorities found he posed a concrete flight risk while under home confinement.

The former head of state was found guilty of planning a armed takeover in the ninth month and handed more than a 27-year term in incarceration, but he was staying under house arrest pending court reviews.

Brazilian Supreme Court Justice the presiding justice said the decision to arrest the septuagenarian politician was a precautionary step after recent developments were revealed.

This included seeking to disable his tracking device and a summons to a supporters' gathering that could facilitate a potential flight.

Court Filing Details Flight Fears

In a paperwork permitting the detention, the magistrate said data from the facility tracking his home detention suggested the one-time head of state's plan to remove the tracking monitor to secure accomplishment in his getaway".
